Native American Spirituality
At the heart of Native American spirituality is a deep reverence for nature. Many of us suffer from our lack of connection to the Earth Mother. We spend our days in fluorescent-lit office buildings, sealed off from the light of the sun and the healing power of the oxygen-giving trees. Being out of touch with nature can bring on a host of unpleasant responses, from allergies to exhaustion. It can even bring on a feeling of emptiness. We read in sacred texts that we are all One with the Loving Universe, but from our sheltered point of view, it often seems impossible.
The gift of Native American spirituality is the understanding that we are all One--with the Earth Mother, with the Universe, and with each other. Participating in ancient Native American ceremonies pulls us out of our separateness toward the beauty of connectedness and community. Even if you weren't raised as part of a Native tribe, participating in these ceremonies from a young age, you are welcome to join in these celebrations now. Join us in reverent celebration, at Three Trees Retreat.
Native American Spirituality and Three Trees
Here at Three Trees, we are so lucky to work with Martin J. Herrera, or Yah Moh. Martin is a spiritual advisor and spiritual guide. He is also the lodge leader for our frequent purification ceremonies. Martin can lead you through the Temazcalli Ceremony, or sweatbath, even if you have never experienced a Native American sweat lodge before. All are welcome here at Three Trees.
Martin Herrera has lead the people in ceremonies of Native American spirituality both here and abroad. He has worked in both North America and South America, as well as in Europe. Martin, a Sundancer of more than a dozen years, lovingly guides the people in healings, baby naming and wedding ceremonies, purification ceremonies and even counseling sessions.
