Grounded in music and the creative arts, Mr. Cheney has developed a broad range of personal and crisis intervention therapies. He designs and implements patient-centered non-intrusive programs for patients and family members. He gently guides participants to identify, explore and to resolve the stress associated with illness and dis-ease.
Creative media are utilized to facilitate communication to the individuals and to the group clinical experience. The therapeutic needs of the patient are addressed in art and music.
Mr. Cheney is providing Art and Music Therapy at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital where he serves individuals and various groups.
He established and implemented Yoga and Meditation Programs serving inmates at the Salinas Valley State Prison for six years and co-facilitated Creating Peace Program dedicated to inmate self-mastery.
Serving as an Art Therapist at Camarillo State Hospital, Jack initiated and established a comprehensive Art Therapy/Fine art Discovery Program serving a resident population of 1,100 including Individual, Group and Cultural Programs.
In private practice on the Central Coast of California he brings his gift and talents to individuals and groups seeking various forms of creative art therapy.
Mr. Cheney graduated with a Masters Degree in Art Therapy, California State College, Los Angeles and a Bachelors Degree in Sculpture, University of California, Santa Barbara.
