Fire Ceremonies
Fire purifies, and fire ceremonies are essential to purifying the body, spirit and heart. Of course, fire ceremonies can be dangerous if not performed with reverence and skill. At Three Trees, we are so lucky to work with Martin J. Herrera, the renowned Native American spiritual guide. Martin, who is also known as Yah Moh or Panther Paw, has been a Sundancer for well over a dozen years. He has led ceremonies in Europe, South America and here in North America. Martin is the trusted guide who leads us in life-changing ceremonies of Native American spirituality.
Fire Ceremonies at Three Trees
One of the most important Native American fire ceremonies is the Temazcalli, or sweatbath. A ceremonial sweat lodge is a sacred place where the body and spirit are purified. It is a form of praying with the Earth Mother, and uniting with the land. Men attend the ceremony in shorts, while the women wear sweat dresses or sarongs. Simple offerings are made to the lodge leader before the ceremony begins.
The Temazcalli Ceremony is a time of intense prayer and blessings. It is the ideal place to re-connect to your Oneness with the Universe. By honoring the four elements of Earth, Air, Water and Fire, and the Sacred Four Directions, you will re-orient yourself as to your true place in the Universe.
These ceremonies are normally held at the Full Moon and the New Moon. A special women's ceremony is also held regularly. This Temazcalli is for women only, and is led by Judy Kessler and/or Ismana Carney.
