Jack and Sequoia answered the call to share their gifts with those seeking real freedom, true abundance, and lasting health and joy. If the mind holds knowledge, and the heart holds love, then Corazon – the Brazilian word for heart and courage, or “find yourself inside” – transmutes love and knowledge into wisdom through action. True wisdom comes from doing, and the Cheneys, supported by their spiritual community, have dedicated their lives to helping the disenfranchised find their Corazon, their inner strength and wisdom. Sequoia calls it “doing our work”: it is the real work to which we are all called, the work of restoring ourselves to our essential nature, our true magnificence, our divine light.
Three Trees is a sacred place where the transcendent power of Nature and the Casa entities who also work with John of God embrace all who walk onto the land. Sacred Native American ceremony preserves the power of transformation, serving all life from the Seen to the Unseen, from the lower to the upper worlds, and from the Four Directions. This power heals our communities and our planet. The more we call upon Divine Power, the more it increases to meet our needs and lift us to healing and transformation. At Three Trees Retreat, the Cheneys synchronize with the energy vortex to amplify and answer each person's clarion call for Truth.
Before answering the call to service, Sequoia was a successful entrepreneur, running an international travel agency. Jack, trained in fine arts, was a self-employed master carpenter. The Cheneys then spent many years running fine arts discovery and art therapy programs at Camarillo State Hospital, Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital and with Salinas Valley State Prison's maximum security inmates. Jack, a Registered Art Therapist still coordinates an art and music therapy program at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
Sequoia and Jack have “walked the talk” of both personal and professional transformation. Their unique combination of spiritual awareness, operational experience, artistic talent and building skills makes them uniquely qualified to operate Three Trees Retreat. Three Trees Reteat is a non-profit, 5013C corporation.
